Nacho House Cat’s Guest Appearance on Reading With Your Kids

Recently, Ashley and Michael were guests on the Reading With Your Kids podcast, hosted by Jed Doherty. This was a great experience, not only to talk to a new audience about our wildlife conservation initiative for kids, but also to learn more about podcasting and children’s book publishing from an expert.

For this episode we talked about the Nacho House Cat and Why Did the Tapir Cross the Street? books, the science behind each of these stories, and Ashley’s evolution as an author.

Check out the episode here on Spotify, on the Reading With Your Kids website, or wherever you get your podcast content.

During this episode we mentioned that we have lots of fun, educational content on jaguars and tapirs. So we decided to share some of those that may be of interest to parents who are reading these books to their kids!

Jaguar Content

  • Inspiring Animals - Jaguars. The Inspiring Animals series on our podcast provides insight into issues associated with threatened animal species. Designed for the 8- 13 year range, this is suggested as a resource for parents to understand more about jaguars.

  • How to Identify Jaguars By Their Spots. An article we prepared on our jaguar identification projects in Belize. Lots of great pictures and an explanation on what jaguar spots tell us.

  • Science of Jaguars: Our article on jaguars. A great reference point for questions that may pop up while reading the book.

Tapir Content

  • Inspiring Animals - Tapirs. These episodes were designed to foster curiosity on endangered animals, and in this episode we explore the biology and conservation efforts around the national animal of Belize - the Tapir!

  • Science of Tapirs. Our basic science article on tapirs. A great reference point for questions that may pop up while reading the book.

  • Looking for more tapir photos? Check out some of ours from our trail cameras in Belize!
